Renan Vital solidified his rank as a major competitor placing well in many high level tournaments during 2013 and winning the SJJIF's (Sport Jiu-Jitsu International Federation) heavyweight and absolute champion in the black belt division. He was gracious enough to break down some of his favorite takedowns and throws for us.
This isn't a wrestling Fireman's Carry or even the traditional judo version. Renan demos his variation of the Kata Guruma (Fireman's Carry). The direction and grip are actually in the opposite direction. The key factor is the grip. Renan used this move at the 2013 SJJIF Worlds to get a takedown and pics of it are in issue #21.
