In this clip, the Part Time Grappler (http://parttimegrappler.blogspot.com) Liam Wandi touches on mount escapes. The theory has always been if you can move them (by pushing where they have no base) then do so. If they resist, it usually opens the opportunity to escape the hips. Don't take my word for it: try it for yourself.

Not a problem. Thanks again.
@liamwandi That would be great! Thanks so much for your help I really
appreciate it!
Many thanks for the kind words Pandusauce. That position you describe with
the feet crossed is difficult to escape indeed, but it is also very
difficult for the opponent to advance on you. Your priority becomes to
block chokes and americanas as they can’t really spin for armbars. I
usually frame against both hips with straight arm frames and shake/shrimp
out my hips from under them. This has a good chance of sliding out a little
bit and give me some room. I think I’ll make another vid 🙂
