When I do this move I try to roll another half turn farther than u did in
this video to try to get his leg that im attacking under his hips instead
of him still having one leg on the ground as a base. Is this necessary? or
is it a similar difficulty submission escape for either leg?

This is like saying a great leg kick was wide open in a boxing match.
