The Head Scissor is an old school move. I have seen it multiple ways and depending on how you do this move can vary on the type of finish (choke, neck crank, face squeeze). It's important that you know the rule set that you're competing under before you try and use this move as some competitions will not allow it.This particular setup comes off of the North/South Kimura position that we have been working on in the previous videos. If you remember I really emphasize the shin over the bicep. besides the fact that this gives us excellent control over the body through squeezing the knees, it guarantees us a good CHOKE on the head scissor. Once I decide that I'm going to go for the head scissor it is important to scoop the heel back under my partners head in a semi triangle type of motion. Make sure to reference the video to see what I am talking about. It is important to point out that the leg that scoops under the head MUST be the leg that is dropped over the bicep.At this point I like to fall on my side. It is also important to fall on the side that points your opponents head towards the ceiling. Make sure that you keep the Kimura grip through the whole transition as it will be your insurance plan for when the scissor does not work out.Now it's time to readjust the scissor. Make sure to straighten that leg lightly while keeping intense pressure into your opponents chest with the inside of your knee. Now that you have this pressure you can re-scoop the head and separate the chin from the neck. Again, make sure to reference the video to see what I am talking about.Once the neck is exposed it is time to straighten the legs. This is a slow and methodical straightening with pressure inward on the chest the whole time. It will almost feel like you are fighting your own movement to straighten your leg with the amount of pressure in on the chest you are keeping with you knee but it is important that you dont let your opponents chin tuck to their chest. Keep in mind that you probably wont make any friends using this submission so use it sparingly!
