Kesa Gatame is a powerful top position in both BJJ and in Judo.
It is critical for students to understand how to escape and how to stay safe in this position.

Great tutorial, Ritchie. I’m a shodan and I learned about this variation by
watching your video years ago in 2010. Have used it for years since. I
actually just did this yesterday to brown belt with a 70 lb weight
advantage. In other words, it’s super effective folks! Give it a try!
Thanks Ritchie
We do this a lot, in fact, it was the first one from Kesa our father showed
us. Maybe we are doing something different, but we can do the escape when a
larger person is not moving, and when we do, we feel no crushing weight on
our heads. When one gets good at our version, it takes less strength and is
very fast. Larger guys are not a problem. It is true the guy your rolling
may get his head spiked into the mat, so be careful. Visit our channel and
watch our version; tell us what you think.
@Kenyawn no doubt, seems cool as hell
