Mounted Armbar Pedron Armbar

3

In this video I show a great submission from mount. I like this submission a lot because it works well against people who try and stay tight to protect their arms. It also works well with the Pedron Choke that I've shown in a previous video. This move starts off by feeding the lapel behind your opponent's head. This will be the hardest part of the move but in reality, it's not that hard to do once you figure out a setup that you like. You can do it the way that I show in the video, or you can be a little sneaky with the feeding of the lapel by basing your head on the floor, using your bicep as a crossface, and then using your hand to "thread the needle"Once you get the lapel behind the head you want to disengage and sit back. When you sit back this should put a lot of pressure on the back of the head and cut off some of your opponent's hip movement. Once you start applying pressure to your opponent it's time to change your angle. Make sure to reference the video to see how my hips move out to the side as I turn my chest. It's important to keep that pressure constant all the way through the transition. If you lose the pressure you will more than likely lose both the grip around the head and the position of mount. So keep this in mind and turn slowly with great care for that grip and arch your back!Once you have turned all the way to the side you can adjust your top leg to sheer that arm. Make sure the thigh placement is perfect and your base is solid before you think about letting go of that lapel around the head. When you do let go your leg should be blocking their arm so that they cant pull it back and your hand should be right next to your partners wrist. This should make a very smooth and quick transition into the armbar.Once you get everything set up correctly, remember to push with your pelvis on the back of the elbow and try to avoid stretching or arching backwards. This will affect your base and you want to stay on top as long as possible. Try out this move, in my experience it's been very easy and high percentage.

Could you do this no gi by just grabbing the back of his head or is that
not stable enough?

Unfortunately it's not the same 🙁  The power you get with that lapel behind the head is insane.
