do u know if in Judo, when grappling, r we allowed to stand to escape a
guard or half gaurd? Some green belts are telling me no.

@real82it @real82it If you put your feet in the right place (a little more
than shoulder width apart and in close to their elbows like jay is doing at
1:12) then you are good. That will make it so they can’t grab your
heels/ankles with their hands and pull on them as they don’t have the room
to. If your feet are too far back, posture is bad and you get swept. I have
had guys do this pass on me correctly and it owned. Guys that did it sloppy
all failed and were swept by one means or another.

When he says don’t let your posture fall, he is right. So many guys try to
do this on me because I have really long strong legs so any guard breaks
while they are seated pretty much fail. But 90% of the time they let their
posture fall and I pull them and roll inverted back for the sweep to mount.
So be very careful about your posture. Also be careful about your foot
placement as I find I can sweet a lot of guys straight back by opening and
pulling their ankles in while pushing their body away.
