Using this in my ladies class tonight. Thank you!
I don’t quite understand. Is there a guard pass technique that works in a
street scenario that doesn’t open me up for an armbar? If someone in my
guard punches me or puts their hand on my chest to push off, that would
make it easier for me to armbar them. I don’t like to train techniques that
seem so easy to counter.
If you encounter someone that knows and uses BJJ in a street fight then it's not a "street fight" anymore. It becomes a BJJ match. At that point you would abandon the street BJJ techniques and resort to the pure BJJ competition techniques. The only thing is that you have to be alert to the fact that your opponent can strike/punch you at anytime.
Matt Hughes sure didnt take the advice to not punch when on top
