BJJ Side Control Escapes

1,360

BJJ / Grappling tips: Side control escape: Pulling guard. To re establish guard from side control, we need to make space between us and the opponent, fill that space with our frame (nearside knee) and then use that frame to push against and move our head and shoulders away, all in continuous motion. Once we have done that, we shrimp to get our legs, knees and feet between us and them. Here, the Part Time Grappler (http://parttimegrappler.blogspot.com) uses the beautiful Live-Love-Fight Ultra light gi to demonstrate.

If anyone that puts you in side control happens to be on their knees –
they’re doing it wrong and it’s easy to escape. Hips need to be lower,
weight on sternum.
