I’m confused as to why putting pressure on his ribs/bicep is going to help
setup the kimura. Could I trouble you for an explanation?

Im not really qualified to give an explanation but I'm the guy on bottom. All I can say is that it was extremely uncomfortable. Dan had my upper body/arm angled in such a precise way that when he actually went for the kimura he only had to move my arm a couple of inches to get the tap.
