Note: There’s been a lot of discussion over the name of this technique. When I worked with Papo in Hawaii, he called it an Anaconda Choke. English is not Papo’s first language, and he could have easily mixed it up. The name really doesn’t matter. The technique matters.
I was fortunate enough to train with “Papo” Soñe while at B.J. Penn’s Academy in Hilo, Hawaii. Papo is from the Dominican Republic and instructed classes while Jay Penn was in England for B.J.’s fight.
