Tight Armbar from Closed Guard | Step by Step BJJ Technique

657

This detailed guide may step up your Jiu Jitsu Armbar from Closed Guard and make it more efficient. The also called “Armlock”, is one of the top BJJ techniques because of it’s effectiveness in competition and Self Defense.
The concepts are the same as in the traditional move, but it has a few variations.
If you are struggling to get this submission and you even end up with your guard passed instead, you should try this move, it’s way more secure than the classic technique because you end up opening your guard when the opponent’s posture has already been broken down, but because of that, the first “stage” (breaking the posture and securing the arm) may be a little harder to get at first (because hey, you didn’t even open your guard yet!), but when you feel comfortable with this move and feel the opponent’s breathe, to go at the right time, you’ll end up with a much more effective Armbar, for sure.
Black Belt World Champion “Rafa Mendes” uses a similar version for this move and we decided to put together this handy guide!
Don’t forget that the Tips are just as important as the main steps for this quick guide! And also, this technique we showed in a few minutes, is just meant to serve as a guide for people that practice with an instructor who doesn’t only correct the technical mistakes, but also guides the students with concepts that can’t be explained briefly. This move was executed in training and/or competition and worked.
