In this video I show a common Quarter Guard Sweep, the Wing Sweep.I see a lot of people play the QG (Quarter Guard) position but only as a stalling position to get their opponents weight off of them. The QG can be good defensively, but it can also be amazing when used to set up offensive movements as well. The trick to the Wing Sweep is getting your opponents hand fed across your body. This is by far the most difficult aspect of this move and it may be almost impossible, depending wheat type of Half Guard your opponent is playing. I find it is easiest to get when your opponent is basing up with the majority of their weight on their heels and using that hand to post on your hip. Placing the hand on the hip is a common response when your opponent is an Under Hook player and was not successful in getting the Under Hook. When this scenario happens to me (and I'm on top) I posture up, place my hand on the shoulder/hip and reset the position. In this case, the wing sweep is awesome!Once you have the hand fed across your body use your free hand to grab ahold of your opponents belt or grab deeply into your opponents far armpit. Whichever grip you take it is important to make sure your body is tight and connected to your opponents. Make sure that when you connect your body to your opponents that you sit up off of your rib cage, this sitting up motion will give you the ability to rock and create momentum.Once you have secured the position you can start to rock your body back. It is at this point that your opponents weight will transfer to your leg and you have done most of the work for this sweep. I have seen this done many times and, like many other moves, your success is going to be directly connected to how many times you have repped the move. You MUST practice the transfer of weight and the straightening of your leg or your opponent will never land in the same way twice. There are not many sweeps that have this type of motion with this hips and the transfer of weight. I suggest referencing the video to see how my opponents hips move in conjunction with mine and then repping it out a lot before you try to do it in sparring. If you try it without repping it out, you may have success but it will look more like dumping your opponent to the side and it will take a lot of effort. When done correctly this can be done against a very large opponent without any problems.

this is one of my best sweep and yes I like to alternate the sweep and
taking the back from there. I dont only use it from Z-half guard tho. I
also much prefer the belt grip personnally.
Misleading title. This is NOT 1/4 guard, this is z guard, as someone
mentioned before.
I think its only z gaurd, not 1/4 guard
