This video talks about controlling from the Knee On Belly Position (KOB). This is a great position and awards two points if you are able to maintain the position in competition but this move is really most effective when used in a real confrontation. While doing security I used both Knee On Belly and Knee On Back a lot. Both of these positions allow you the a lot of control over your opponent while still giving you the ability to be mobile. The KOB position is a diverse position and the balance between domination and mobility is a fine line. It is very important to understand the transitions in and out of this position, and how it fits together with Side Control and Mount.I show one quick drill in this video that I use. This builds a students perception of weight distribution and gets them used to moving, linearly, laterally and with depth. It also helps build perception of the spacing difficulties caused by your opponents legs.
