Indian Death Lock Counter: Sweep Variation

73

The IDL works very well if you don't whip up quick and turn to your side. This sweep variation is done when a person attempts the lock.Grappling is a chess game after all and sometimes the dog gets you and some days, you get the dog! Thanks Brian for the great stuff going back and forward between us!

Great explination and great defense to the IDL. Another thing you can do
from that whip up is to get wrist control and go into a whizzer from the
bottom as u grab the ankle. Than pull ur opponent on top to their stomach.
While maintaining the figure 4 on the opposing leg transition into a calf
lock. When we train later 2day I’m gonna do that technique and post it as a
response to this.

This is pretty cool, but why post up and go to side control after sweeping
the guy down? Why not just take that ankle, since you’ve already got your
body weight on the shin… all you have to do is keep that pin on the shin
and grab that left foot then crank straight up- you can dig in Robinson
style. Why keep the fight going if you can submit him right there? I don’t
know the “rules” of Jiu Jitsu but it seems like there were plenty of
opportunities to lockdown submissions within the move.
