In this video I show a very sneaky and effective move from the Half Guard. Although this move is labeled a sweep it walks a fine line between sweep and reversal. The ruling between sweep and reversal will depend on if you use your legs, if your opponent actually accepts the bottom position (as opposed to staying in Turtle) and how good the referee is.This can be a great option against an opponent that has heavy hips. In the video I show to feed your opponents belt but I have also seen it taught by feeding your opponents lapel. Both are very effective. I vary on which version I do depending on which is easier to grab. Basically grab a piece of fabric between your opponents leg and feed it to your hand. One of the biggest mistakes that people make is feeding it over the back of their opponents butt. This will be very difficult to do unless you have extremely long arms. In order to make this work you should go around the outside of your opponents thigh. This will take some good body control and getting used to as most opponents will not like you moving out the back. You will also eat a lot of Cross Facing and general resistance, especially after you have used this move a couple of times. Nonetheless this move is still pretty strong. After your opponent has gotten wise to this move you may experience some people going into mount when you belly down and straighten that arm. At this point it will be a timing game. Just be wary that your opponent might try this and keep the slack taken out of the belt. With this in mind you should be able to avoid it.

hahaha. do you wish you were wearing a cup right now?
Will this work using the lapel as well?
I haven’t been able to finish the no-gi lapel choke lately. I try to do it
gently but they are still giving me weird looks. Any tips?
