+AFGalwayz I know it’s been a while, hope you’re still doing BJJ! I’m an average size guy, about 150 lbs and I know the feeling. You can maintain the mount a lot easier by ALWAYS offsetting your head as an anchor to one side. Check out some Pedro Sauer mount videos for good examples. When I put on the Americana I actually put my head on the ground in between the shoulder and the hand I’m attacking. This gives me a tripod point where I can’t be swept easily, and it also blocks the guy from reaching his other hand… Read more »

Incredible shoulder lock because my route is wrestling and sometimes I get
the mount a little easier than others and that is a simple way 2 break a
shoulder instead of trying to break a face and getting overzealous and
bucked off thanks again guys

I definitely agree, but if you have done both then you know that jiu jitsu
is much more like chess with your body and wrestling is much more about
out-muscling your opponent, comparatively, no?
