I’ve been learning bjj for 5 months now and watching these have help.
Question how long does it take to be good at bjj. I’ve always been a stand
up fighter and this whole thing is new to me.

Wonderful!
I have a question though, you said you should have a good base but a lot of
times the guy at the bottom is strong , can sit while grabbing my lapel and
doing an x-choke, do you have a counter for that as well, or must I do this
particular guard break in a split second to avoid that? Thanks

@cyclerovnorth admittedly it is a bit awkward when you first start Jj. What
with being between another man’s legs, laying on top of someone else,
having someone else’s sweat all over you, etc. However, I guarantee this
first time that you roll (try and legitimately tap another person out) the
last thing on your mind is all that stuff. You will be so worried about
another person trying to break your arm or choke you to death (obviously
you would tap and avoid all that) that you won’t care
