In this video I show a common submission from the back the Short Choke. This is a great option for when your opponent is tough to finish and you're having problems feeding the second hand in for the Rear Naked Choke (RNC).Let me start off by saying that the Short Choke can be a vicious choke. Depending on how it is taught, where your forearm is and the intensity at which you go for it you may find yourself losing friends at the academy. Keep this in mind while both repping it out and while rolling in class.Remember to maintain that pocket between your hips and your partners back this will ensure that you are tall enough to land this choke. If you have any questions about this pocket make sure to reference the previous video titled "Back Control Concepts and RNC".In this video I go into depth about the power of choking and what really finishes your opponent. As you go through all the videos that I post over the next month you will see that the elbow coming behind the shoulder blade is a recurring theme. If you follow the simple steps of setting up the fulcrum and bringing the elbow behind the back you will have a lot of success. Also note that the only part of my arms to move is my forearm and my elbow. This takes some practice as you will surely want to move both arms. It is predominately that one elbow although you can see that I do rotate my body slightly. Be vigilant to make sure that the elbow coming behind the shoulder is the main choking power and not the rotation of the body. This will be something that you have to rep out to really get the feel of.

I’m not sure if it’s the same choke as I havent seen the fight. Let me
track it down and I will get back to you.
Is this the choke that Fedor used to be tap Tim Sylvia? It looks similar.
Does the Short Choke mostly attack the windpipe or the carotid arteries?
