I've been excited to post this video for awhile. This has been extremely high percentage for me in the last couple of months and it's so easy that I'm sure you guys will have a lot of success with it. As you progress through the ranks you'll quickly find that getting your grips is the most difficult thing to do. At black belt getting your hand into the collar can be dream, especially a deep grip. In this video I show an easy way to get your grip deeper than you've ever gotten it before with little to no fighting. This technique starts from the 3/4 mount (reference the video and you'll see what I mean). There is very little that I need to point out about this video so I'm going to let the video do most of the talking. The one place that I want to talk about is allowing them to turn back into you in Half Guard. You'll find that this move works better against good people. People that understand good body angle and try to get back into the game. If the person lays flat or refuses to turn into you it's ok to snatch them and pull them up onto their side or to try and force yourself back to mount and finish with a modified cross collar choke. Keep in mind your grip is going to be ridiculously deep, just mind the orientation of your wrist and you should be good to go. Lastly, the more that they turn into you, the harder you will choke them. DO NOT RUSH THE CHOKE by trying to choke them before they come all the way up on his/her side. You WANT their chest angled towards the floor because that seeds their wrist firmly against the neck.

This worked really well for me. Good stuff man.
I've had a ton of success with this move! Â I did try it in the a recent IBJJF Open tournament and both times my opponent went Deep Half Guard. Â I'll have to figure out something for that transition before I use it again in comp. Â Other than those two times it's been a great "go to" move for me.

You are a really good teacher. Clear instructions and great diction when
speaking! Thank you.
Thanks! Â I'll keep putting out instructionals as long as people watch them.
