That’s more of a Figure Four leglock than a Cloverleaf technique. And it’s
been in Kosen Judo and Sambo for awhile. However, this is a different take
on it and a bit different than what Kosen Judo or Sambo teach on the
technique, so it’s still revolutionary in that aspect. I’d have to say this
is more of the “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Figure Four” in comparison to the Judo
or Sambo variant of the move.

+Revolution BJJ Despite my criticism of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, THAT is a style I would actually be interested in…I'll be watching your videos.

+azraelangelofred Yep!  Carlson was a major innovator.

+Revolution BJJ Carlson Gracie…wasn't he the one that started no-ghi Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and encouraged learning boxing and wrestling with it?

+azraelangelofred – Our head instructors are Andrew Smith and Trey Martin, both of whom got their black belts from Julio "Foca" Fernandez, who is a sixth degree Carlson Gracie black belt.  I'm sorry some BJJ dudes look down on you.  That's really not cool.

+Revolution BJJ Fair enough. It is an interesting take on it. I'm just hesitant to compliment BJJ guys too much because being more of a striker myself (but with great appreciation for the ground game), I tend to get snubbed or looked down on by BJJ guys (at least in Kansas). Nice to see more humble, respectful types. Also nice to see experimentation. Why style of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu do you do? Is it based off of Machado, Gracie or just Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in general?

Thanks for the praise.  Seph Smith and I have always called this the "Texas Cloverleaf", so it sort of stuck with me.

Eric Paulson’s Quick Kills DVD shows this leglacing from a double leg
takedown. Technique #1.
Cesar Gracie No gi leglocks DVD shows it also almost identically as this
one. It’s all good.
