Z-Half Guard is so frustrating to pass. This is my go to pass for it as
well. I find that a lot of the time, the sprawl doesn’t get rid of that
pesky bottom leg hook. I find that I have to sprawl multiple times to get
it free and sometimes even that doesn’t do the trick. I don’t think I have
ever tried that knee slide option from this position before though.. I will
definitely give it a try. I also like the head in the chest detail. I
wasn’t doing that before. Maybe that was my problem.

Also, have you ever tried grabbing the belt with that arm weaving through
the legs? What are your thoughts?
