Phoenix BJJ & MMA Academy's instructor Kevin Scott shows a newer version of the traditional upa mount escape. In the traditional version the person mounted would follow these steps:1) bridge the opponent with there hips2) chop the inside of the opponents elbow to bend their arm3) reach across to control the opponents wrist of the trapped arm4) take the hand that originally trapped the arm and rotate it to cup the triceps5) trap the opponents leg with your leg on the side you have control of the arm.6) bridge your opponent towards the side of trapped arm and legIn this variation you:1) Bridge the opponent with your hips so his hands hit the mat2) Use both arms to chop inside elbow of one of opponents arms to bend the arm and control it3) Keep arm bent using your arm that is reaching across4) Use arm on same side to grab opponents back and keep them broken down. 5) Trap leg on side of trapped arm6) Bridge towards trapped sidePhoenix BJJ & MMA Academy is a 5200 sq ft facility with a 4000 sq ft mat space.
