The ankle lock does, in fact, not work on me. Period. My trainer is the Australasian MMA grappling 2014 champion and specialises in ankle locks, and even he is unable to submit me from the ankle lock. We theorize that once an ankle reaches a certain size (muscle, bone density, etc) the ankle lock becomes completely ineffective, so we’ve ascertained that you should check the size of your opponents ankles before attempting this move (okay kinda impossible in a street fight, but in a competitive scene this is possible).
