Steven Browns’ Ude garami submission at 2013 World Championships

This video is a great example of how to utlisie the top position in a Judo competition. Sometimes there is not enought time to get your leg out of half guard and secure an Osaekomi waza but as you can see from this video there are times when your opponents are is free to get a submission.

These bastard broke his shoulder instead of getting a clean submission. He
should be banned from the tournament.

You don't want to get hurt, you go play chess. And that was a perfectly legal ude garami anyway.

That was NASTY!!! @SpikeMMA: All BJJ submissions come from Judo, the ones
that are not canon are only variations. There’s no such thing as a “BJJ
Kimura”, it’s called Gyaku ude arami, the Brazilians call it kimura because
Masahiko Kimura (who was a Judoka btw) broke Helio Gracie’s arm with it.
Not hating on BJJ but I dislike the misconception of this particular sub
and its variants. I study and compete in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
