Samir Chantre, Lasso Guard Concepts: Jiu-Jitsu Magazine, Issue #30.

532

“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of fight in the dog”. This legendary catch phrase was said by Mark Twain and sums up the competitive characteristics of our featured cover athlete, Samir Chantre. Samir is a 2x No-Gi World Champion, 3x Pan No-Gi Champion, 8x American Nationals Champion, and 5x Las Vegas Open Champion, with two of those being in the absolute division. While he may be smaller in stature, Samir is all heart and though serious in competition, is an easy going guy off the mats. At the young age of 26 he has yet to reach his peak and we can’t wait to see what lies ahead for him in the future. In the meantime however, while on a visit up north at Caio Terra’s Academy, Samir was kind enough to explain and show us one of his favorite tools from within his toolbox, his deadly lasso guard. For more on Samir we recommend you check out https://www.samirchantre.com, like him on Facebook under Samir-Chantre-BJJ and follow him on Twitter @samirchantrebjj.

In this video Samir explains the concepts and set up of the lasso guard. Assisting him is his teammate, Vitor Paschoal. Both are featured in kimonos that can be found at http://www.ctrlindustries.com.
