This is a variation of the north south choke. In my opinion this is much easier to hit than a traditional north south. It leaves much more room for error. I first learned this from Thor who learned it first hand from Jeff Monson. For more techniques like this www.10thplanetwatch.com

thanks for the details. obviously the monson choke has been shown many
times before but your focus on how to generate pressure, after the grip
setup, really makes me want to take this technique to the mat again.
