Closed Guard Transition Lapel Snatch

1

In this video I show a transition from Closed Guard to Turtle position. keep in mind this is not going to be a sweep (unless you pull them so hard they fall into Side Control), but it is a great way to get out from under someone. I really like this move because it focuses on strong basics (both the technical stand up and the hip switch). This is something that you can have success with from day one through all of your skill levels. Collar Drags are serious business. Make sure that when you rep this that you inform your partner what you're about to do or they may just plan on their face. The leg switching is a little difficult. I've seen a number of people do the footwork backwards so you may want to play with it both ways to see which one works best for you. I specifically do it the way shown in the video so that my outside knee is up and I can sheer the shoulder as I cut the corner. This gives a strong Turtle position while also allowing for Crucifix if you want that option. There are numerous options off of the Lapel Snatch and I will show a few of those options in the next video. Keep tuned to see how to get a good loop choke finish after you've mastered the Snatch.
